The Pediatric Outpatient Services Front Desk Supervisor coordinates and supervises the daily activities of the Eccles Outpatient Services Reception Desks. The Supervisor manages the reception staffing schedule and team assignments; assists with hiring, training, and staff development; and monitors daily performance and productivity. The Supervisor will also coordinate the availability of translation services for patients cared for in Department of Pediatrics specialty clinics. The Supervisor works closely with Department of Pediatrics Management and reports to the clinical operations manager. This position is part of the operations team responsible for pediatric ambulatory clinic services.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours per week, MondayFriday.



  • Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the Primary Children's Outpatient Services Reception Desks. Manage the receptionist staffing schedule and team assignments. Coordinate the availability of translation services for patients cared for in Department of Pediatrics specialty clinics. Monitor patient volumes and clinic throughput and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist with recruitment, hiring, training and professional development of the front desk staff. Provide feedback on performance and complete staff evaluations. Enforce the written standards of practice, policies and procedures, and initiate corrective action as necessary. Monitor daily performance and productivity; organize regular staff meetings; and provide advanced team based training. Approve leave requests and act as the KRONOS supervisor.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of operational standards and clinic work flows. Participate in operational committees to establish customer service standards and implement plans for improvement. Support division compliance with department policy and health care standards.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns, and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through.
  • Monitor inventory and efficient use of supplies and resources.



Eight years of related experience with at least two of those years in a supervisory capacity. Depending on the area of assignment, related experience could include medical billing and collections, medical records, pre-authorization, admissions, or other related experience. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills essential. A Bachelor's degree in a related area, such as Accounting, Business, or Healthcare Management, may be preferred. Some positions may require knowledge of accounting, collections, coding, cash postings, data entry, and/or medical terminology.   • Eight years of experience in scheduling, medical billing, collections, medical records, preauthorization, admissions, registration, reception, or customer service.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Problem solving skills and experience.
  • Previous experience with an EMR system; iCentra, Help 2 and Epic Care preferred.
