The Health Information Coding Analyst is responsible for coordinating a high volume of both electronic and paper records for the pediatric cardiology outpatient clinics and supporting 30+ physicians and support staff. Acts as a liaison between Pediatric Cardiology and University Medical Billing (UMB) ensuring all clinic visits and procedures are documented correctly and notes are being finalized and sent to UMB for accurate coding and billing.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday " Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.



Reviews clinic notes to ensure accuracy of clinic visit description, point of care, procedure documentation, and finalization of notes to ensure accurate and timely billing Maintain/audit multiple logs for charge capture and financial reporting Assist physicians with coding and documentation questions Set up processes with UMB to ensure needed information is sent in an efficient and effective manner Act as a liaison between pediatric cardiology and UMB regarding missing clinic note information Research and resolve inquiries from UMB Assist with new provider training regarding proper clinic note documentation Work directly with division administrator on special projects as assigned

Health Information

Maintains medical records by using complex computerized filing system to compile and retrieve files Locates missing records Files new and updated information Scans outside information into correct patients electronic medical record


QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of medical record compilation experience in a healthcare environment or equivalency; demonstrated knowledge of chart flow and chart construction, medical terminology and coding; completion of college courses in anatomy and physiology or completion of hospital provided courses; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.



Demonstrated understanding of pediatric cardiology coding, anatomy of the heart, and medical terms Ability to work closely with physicians to ensure notes are completed and contain the information required for UMB to code and bill accurately Proficient with EPIC, Microsoft Excel, IHC Help 2, Powerchart, and Microsoft Word An in-depth understanding of electronic medical record systems
